Tiivistelmä:Through analyzing the entry strategies (hereafter as: str/s.) of foreign investors entering emerging economies, this study examines the impact of market-supporting institutions on business str/s. Applied is the institution-based view of str/s. by integrating it with resource-based considerations. Especially, it is shown how resource-seeking str/s. are engaged in using different entry modes in different institutional contexts. Alternative modes of entry, that is, acquisition, greenfield, and joint venture (JV), allow firms to overcome different kinds of market inefficiencies related to both characteristics of the resources and to the institutional context. The selected emerging economies of this study are: Egypt, India, South Africa and Vietnam.
