| Tiivistelmä: | A new breed of tape drive software lets information services of companies automate and control the backup, maintenance and retrieval of local area networks (LAN) data. The time is over when backup depended on the end-user diligence. Using the newest tape backup software for IBM and compatible PCs, information services managers can leave the tape drive in the drawer and let it work unattended. Or they can put the tape drive on the server in the data center and make LAN backup part of routine operations. LAN backup systems are finally becoming data management systems, with attendant scheduling, grooming, archiving and retrieval capabilities. A list of selected PC tape drive software vendors is presented. |
