| Tiivistelmä: | The subject of this paper is knowledge management and computer networks. The author describes a knowledge management system called the Eureka that is being used by oil and gas company Schlumberger and the benefits it has given the company. The paper also considers the subject of positive impact of community of practice initiatives and the creation of a network of support for technical experts and to maximize the company's knowledge-sharing potential. The article also pays provides unique independence to communities with respect to the classical organizational structure. The paper provides a number of figures and on this subject. |
