| Tiivistelmä: | By the end of 1987, approximately 465,000 local area networks (LANs) had been installed throughout the US. Installing a LAN is a lot more than just wiring. It includes a survey of existing resources, designing the network, wiring, installing software, integrating the LAN with other hardware and software, training and educating users, and laying the groundwork for maintenance and management. However vendors rarely do more than provide consulting. Many of the larger LAN users are attempting to train a handful of in-house networking experts. Currently vendors begin to broaden their role. Many companies are moving toward third-party installers, which do everything from network design to maintenance. |
