Tiivistelmä:A local area network is a way of connecting a number of computers together so that they can share files, programs and certain devices like printers and hard disks. LAN stands for local area network. The name implies that the network is local, or in an area where all of the computers are close to each other, like an office. Yet a LAN does not always have to link computers in the same area. Many LANs support connecting computers on different floors of the same building, in different buildings, across town and even across the country.
