| Tiivistelmä: | Computer viruses are making the headlines. Do networks simplify their epidemic propagation? Can unauthorized persons, so-to-say, gain access to the otherwise well-protected data banks via "back yard" of the network? Several protective methods, techniques and measures are described. Security coding techniques are discussed in detail. The protection of telephone networks and data networks is separately examined. It is shown how networks can be responsible for transmitting computer viruses. The question whether open systems are in contradiction with the security efforts is tentatively answered. Some fixed elements of open systems security are specified. |
