Tiivistelmä:In this study, it has been observed that extending the service business (here as: srv-bus.) in manufacturing companies (here as: manf-comps.) often leads to a "service paradox". Where there is such a paradox, substantial investment in extending the srv-bus. leads to increased service offerings and higher costs, but does not generate the expected correspondingly higher returns. It has been worked with more than 30 equipment manf-comps. to gain an understanding as to why manf-comps. often fail to exploit the financial benefit of extending their srv-bus. Based on this research, this study attempts to provide guidance for managers in manf-comps. seeking to successfully extend their srv-bus.
