| Tiivistelmä: | High commitment work systems are a key element in the discussions on HRM. This paper reports on a study examining whether the use of the commitment model for production workers is diffusing, and why some management adopt it more than others. The paper is divided into three main parts. Part 1 explores the nature and significance of high commitment management (HCM) and its linkage to conceptions of HRM. Part 2 contains an account of the research design, and the measures used in the study. Part 3 reports the results of the study which was undertaken in 1990 and involved a representative sample of 135 manufacturing plants in Great Britain. |
