| Tiivistelmä: | Maintenance is not the only way software systems can evolve: software systems can evolve through creation. Software creation and evolution are not contradictions in terms, nor are they mutually exclusive. In fact, it is possible and desirable to create an evolutionary system as follows - developing an information technology architecture, - establishing a software system direction, and - installing a 'chunking' software development methodology. A couple of case studies clearly differentiates evolutionary software system creation from conventional software system development. |
