Tiivistelmä: | The proposition that "mechatronics", the symbol of advanced automation, far from having a deskilling effect, requires increasing skill in order to achieve optimum efficiency and functioning is explained. The image of the manual worker becomes a hybrid one, in which the skill of the handy-man and artisan are combined. Other commentators in interpreting this trend also argue in favour of the renaissance of the professional worker. The conditions for such a "renaissance" are clearly emerging in Japan: extensive training programs, efficient transfer of information between manual workers and engineers, facilitated by more egalitarian social relationships, equal participation in the process of mechatronisation are mentioned. |
