| Tiivistelmä: | In major capital projects, such as power generation, strategic alliances are increasingly common. The objective of this paper is to highlight the manifold challenges that developers face when they seek to initiate these alliances and to outline the strategies that may be most effective in creating and sustaining value in global power development. Here, a distinction is made between primary and secondary alliances, as each requires rather different management skills. The paper concludes by outlining strategies for managing the tensions inherent in internal as well as external alliances. |
