| Tiivistelmä: | Major changes in British local government are impacting on methods of raising revenue and on its overall scope. At the same time, local authorities are seeking a fundamental reorientation to the customer. The implications for human resource management are discussed that utilize one local authority as a case illustration. It is suggested that attempts to apply corporate strategy concepts to local government are inherently problematical and that there ara a number of peculiarities which present the human resource management approach with a more than usually severe test. |
