Tiivistelmä: | A small open economy containing many identical communities and two types of workers is modelled. Workers are mobile across communities, but not internationally. Competitive firms produce two tradable goods, local governments provide a single public good. Utility, profit and surplus maximization is considered. A modified version of Stolper-Samuelson theorem is used to prove that the rise in the relative price of a good helps those workers, who are concentrated in communities that export the good. The proof relies on a stability assumption discussed in detail. Direct applicability of the result to specific trade policies is demonstrated on the case of a tariff imposed on foreign imports. |
