| Tiivistelmä: | This is the third study in a program of research to identify the cultural correlates of the social institution of private property. This study examined two mutually exclusive random samples of world cultures: a geographically stratified sample of 147 societies from Murdock's 1981 Atlas of World Cultures, and an unstratified sample of 312 societies from Murdock's 1967 Ethnographic Atlas. Ownership of land and of movables was examined for correlation with 146 variables coded by Murdock as descriptive of human culture. |
