| Tiivistelmä: | The R and D function has been somewhat ignored in the managerial literature, yet it is recognized as essential for the development of innovation, especially in Japan. This point is demonstrated using a study of Japanese and French companies. Four fundamental questions are addressed: 1. How the role of the R and D function is settled in the organizational context of the company? 2. How the R and D organization is developed nowadays? 3. Are there any specific methods of human resource management concerning the R and D function? 4. What kind of objectives and means of completion are characteristic when the R and D function is connected to the external environment of the company? |
