Tiivistelmä: | The wide-spread opinion, according to which the saturation of the car market makes further expansion of the automobile industry unlikely is examined and criticized. The concept of competitive position is interpreted, and the competitive positions of the German and European car manufacturers are investigated. The advantages and disadvantages of the European car industry are compared to those of the Japanese manufacturers giving special emphasis to the issues of internationalization, productivity and costs. The strategies of the European car producers are examined and criticized. |
