| Tiivistelmä: | Having decreased the vehicle tax for trucks on the ist of January, 1994, a motorway tax is to be introduced for these vehicles in Germany on the ist of January, 1995. Three important transport policy objectives are to be realized by this measure: to increase the contribution of foreign transporters to the maintenance costs of German roads, to improve the competitive position of German transport enterprises, and to reduce the burden on the German motorways. The motorway fee as a proper instrument to realize these objectives is examined. |
