The term has come to be used for many purposes, each of which characterizes a different quality or capability of a system. This is an important problem: flexibility improvement is frequently among the top concerns of manufacturing managers, and is growing in importance. The confusion and ambiguity about a concept that often represents a critical competitive capability seriously inhibits its effective management. |
