Tiivistelmä: | Assembling cars can be seen as a sequence of stages through which the car bodies progress, with subassemblies and components being fed from off-line areas and suppliers to fixed points on the assembly line. There are 3 methods of controlling such off-line feeding processes: the off-line areas produce at the medium usage rate, use the Toyota kanban system, or trigger off-line assembly from the passage of car bodies past a specified point. This paper describes how Jaguar Cars Limited developed models for comparing the kanban and trigger systems, and for calculating the optimal system parameters in either case. |
