| Tiivistelmä: | In 1996, foreign investment accounted for 14.9% China's total investment in fixed assets. By the end of Aug. 1997, the actually utilized foreign investment amounted to US$ 204.4 billion. But the present investment situation doesn't allow of being optimistic. According to statistics, the main targets of absorbed foreign direct investment in the first half of 1997 all declined by a wide margin. So it is urgent to improve investment environment. At present, the government should further standardize the market competition mechanism formulate laws and policies suiting market economy in order to control unfair competition. Moreover, it should strengthen guidance and supervision and management of foreign-funded enterprises and management of state assets in an effort to put an end to the illegal business operation and enhance domestically-funded enterprises' competitiveness. |
