Tiivistelmä:How does the public prevent large organizations from engaging the in misconduct that could cause extensive damage to consumers, communities, and investors ? In an era when the markets are more likely to influence behaviour, any private lawsuits, government regulation or aggressive investigative reporters might be wrong. There is, however, a solution that could work. Companies are increasingly being called upon to adopt compliance and ethics programs to police their own conduct and are being expected to take steps to prevent and detect misconduct before the harm occurs. These programs amount to a management commitment to implement effective methods to address potential wrongdoing. It is described in the article what is causing companies and other organizations to take these steps and what it is that managers are doing.
