| Tiivistelmä: | In late 1990s the Parliament of the Russian Republic voted to follow its own radical reform path, rejecting the more conservative plan of the Union leadership. By 1996 attempts at comprehensive, rapid economic transformation in Russia had begun to subside, and in their place came relatively more mundane efforts to achieve sustained growth in the new system. While still potentially explosive, debates were no longer about remaking the entire economic foundation of the country, but rather improving the performance of an emerging economy. |
