| Tiivistelmä: | The problem of simultaneously determining raw material of different lenghts to be procured and stocked, lot sizes for cutting required pieces of given lenghts from the raw mate- rial and cutting patterns to be applied for cutting wood ledges in a caravan manufacturing company is considered. A nonlinear integer program is formulated for modelling the planning problem. Based upon the properties of the integer program a method for determining the optimal solution is de- veloped. The method is applied to the planning problem in a caravan manufacturing company. It is shown, that using the integer linear program solver CPLEX 6.0 an optimal solution can be determined, which is superior to the current practice in the company. For less restricted problems, due to the computational effort of the optimization method proposed, the applicication of a heuristic solution might be necessary |
