Tiivistelmä:Berle and Means asserted that U.S. corporations (henceforth as: U.S. cs.) typically have dispersed shareholders, their evidence did not support this conclusion. Today, over 59 percent of U.S. cs. have 'controlling shareholders' holding at least 10 percent of the shares. More than 24 percent are controlled and managed by a family, over 16 percent are controlled by a widely-held financial institution, and more than 13 percent through family trusts. In all size ranges (here as: sz-rgs.), the USA has more corporations controlled by families than by financial institutions. In almost all sz-rgs., it has a higher percentage of family-controlled corporations than any of next four largest economies.
