| Tiivistelmä: | A potential epidemic of HIV/AIDC threatened Brazil at the end of the 1990s, when through an original and multifaceted campaign the government of Brazil was able to bargain price reductions for HIV medications from multinational pharmaceutical companies and start local production. This article shows through interview data and documents analysis that corporate social responsibility (CSR) can be viewed in reality as a dynamic negotiation and an interaction between numerous actors. Voluntary CSR is not necessarily sufficient which prompts a stronger role for governments and international organizations. |
