| Tiivistelmä: | The relations among economic activities of the firm,the accounting measures of these activities,and the market returns on the debt and the equity of the firm are of central interest to financial economists. Empirical relation between market return to equity and basic characteristics,such as the size and earnings yield of the firm is tested. The main results are: (1) rates of return from portfolios chosen on the basis of accounting data from the two applied data bases differ significantly; (2) these differences imply different conclusions testing a specific hypothesis relating to accounting and price data; (3) a number of remedies may reduce the bias. |
