| Tiivistelmä: | Saturated markets and the pressure of international competition cause many companies to reconsider their decision to develop new fields of activity. In the past, such diversifications were frequently realized through acquisitions and fusions. Recent investigations show, however, that these approaches seldom lead to success. The new forms of diversification are found in strategic alliances. Cooperation with companies, which in some cases were competitors in the past, lead to competitive advantages for the participants and accelerate the diversification process appreciably. the characteristics and the management of strategic alliances are explained. |
