Tiivistelmä:Two large dry food warehouses or DCs (distribution centers) involved much technological innovation. Despite similar technologies, the Australian retailer FoodCo had contrasting experiences with DCA (distribution centre A) and DCB (distribution centre B). The transformation of DCA by the subcontractor underlined the importance of management competence and style, strategies and tactics, in determining the successful operation of new technology. DCB was successful, largely because it had a strong leader and a technically competent management team. In their strategy there was well-planned selection, induction and training for all of the workforce, including the supervisors.
