| Tiivistelmä: | Over a decade has passed since the initial shock of sharp price increases in 1973-74, which affected the economic development of the reviewed five countries originally composing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in different ways. The implications of the demand and supply management policies adopted are analysed, especially those related to pricing and diversification, and areas are suggested where new directions might better achieve the basic goals of those policies. Issues are discussed that may require further consideration in policy planning in light of the results of some recent studies. Policy issues for research are summarized. |
