Tiivistelmä:The basic concepts of strategic planning as well as the different methods of planning, have now been accepted not only in most large enterprises but also in the majority of medium-sized firms. A new strategic dimension has clearly been added to operative short-and medium term planning. A conceptual approach also makes possible the strategic planning of human resources. In this article, the author sets out to show the importance of personnel developments for the overall success of the firm, to examine current personnel practice from a strategic standpoint, and finally to outline some practical approaches to strategic personnel development.
