| Tiivistelmä: | In any approach to industrialization in a developing country, great care must be taken in selecting the fields to be developed, along with deciding upon the extent of industrialization. In Korea, the development of industry by pursuing import-substitution and export-promotion policies were undertaken almost simultaneously. The importance of industrial research and mobilization of domestic talent has been recognized not only for its supporting role in economic development, but also, and perhaps more importantly, in producing the framework for the formulation of economic development strategies. |
