Tiivistelmä:Two recent studies of new technology adoption is discussed first. One was focusing on employee resourcing aspects and the other on employee relations. Both have concluded that "on balance it is employment policies that deeply influence the way in which technological change is implemented", and that "industrial relations have greater impact on technological change than in reverse". The relevant social science literature is reviewed. Four new case studies are reported. They are largely supporting the above mentioned findings. The variability of interventions in differing organizations is illustrated and analyzed. The conditions of influential role of personnel specialists are highlighted.
