| Tiivistelmä: | Empirical studies have been conducted to examine the motives and consequences of takeover actions. It is examined whether takeovers are actually profitable, and how any gains should be shared out. Research tends toward the theory that the takeover mechanism favors efficiency and economic democracy within the firm. The market price after the announcement of an operation is only promising if the probability of failure of the takeover is almost zero. The scheme of regulations including the kind or change of titles has a significant impact on the performance of the target companies. |
