| Tiivistelmä: | Based on the assumption that global competitiveness involves deciding whether to locate or expand facilities abroad, a model is offered to help managerial decisions by way of assessment of the pertinent variables. Six basic steps are to be followed in sequential order. The model assumes that management has already ruled out further expansion at the present site. A case example is described and analyzed. The complexity of international site selection is demonstrated. Once operations are located outside the home country, coordination, observation, and control of the facility becomes more difficult. The proposed model helps to determine the ideal process for both intra- and international location decisions. |
