Tiivistelmä:Papers advocating the principle of strategic planning are numerous. So are the failures suffered in its application. There is a prime reason for this: the contractual aspect of any planning process is too often ignored. Using a typology of the forms of strategic planning, an in-depth analysis of economic and psychological criteria are presented which contribute to the efficiency of this management tool, according to the particularities of each company. After having examined the General Electric case study, practical recommendations for planners and managers are offered.
