Tiivistelmä: | Kosmos 637 in March 1974 was the first geosynchronous test launch. Soviet geostationary communications satellites are divided among Raduga, Ekran, Gorizont, and Kosmos. Raduga is the oldest launched in 1975. Ekran debuted in 1976 as the world's first direct TV broadcast satellite. It is unique in many respects. Now there are over 4000 Ekran receiving stations reaching 20 million viewers. Gorizont network started before the 1980 Olympic Games. The U.S.S.R. is developing a new DBS which may come in 1990. |
