| Tiivistelmä: | The production environment certainly does not permit the farmers to own machines themselves, nor does it provide an attractive undertaking for the private sector to carry out business. The alternative source of machines is a co-operative. However, owing to the scale of production and cost of operation, a sufficient number of machines cannot be provided. A two-stage procedure using dynamic programming and linear programming models is used for minimizing machine requirements and cost of machine operation, respectively. In order to illustrate the applicability of the model, data from one of the main rice producing areas are collected, and an example is presented. |
