| Tiivistelmä: | The rate of return of the investment in shares of two major insurance companies in Germany and Italy respectively has been determined for different investment periods and investment behaviour of the shareholders; the inflation and the income tax have been taken into account. Since both companies operate in the same fields of activity, having roughly the same size and following similar strategies with respect to the tax system, it can be assumed that the comparison is significant, and shows results which do not differ substantially. The results, therefore, can be considered as elements of reference for the insurance sector both in Western Germany and Italy. It is shown that the shareholder behaviour is of great importance. |
