| Tiivistelmä: | Strategic management is characterized as an environment and future oriented management concept. Systems and tools of strategic management are mentioned. The questions to be answered by managers in order to build up a sound strategy are listed. The notion of strategic management competency is understood as individual and/or collective expression of a company's strengths. Management abilities necessary to develop and accomplish a sucessful strategy are summarized. Selective competency; benefits and shortcomings of specialization. A four component model of strategic management competency is composed of situative, functional, social, and intellectual building blocks. The use of this model in management development is sketched. |
