| Tiivistelmä: | In this study the author aims to enlighten the knowledge about the policy transmission mechanism in the Czech Republic. The author conducts an empirical study on how the monetary policy has affected bank lending. The author researches a panel of quarterly time series for Czech commercial banks during the period of 1996-2001. The overall effect of monetary policy on growth rate of loans and the characteristics of the supply loans has the main focus of this empirical study. The findings indicate that changes in monetary policy alter the growth rate of loans, with notably greater force in the period of 1999-2001 than in the period 1996-1998. |
