| Tiivistelmä: | Credit cards have been an important means of retail payment for 20 years. The means by which transactions are recorded and effected have changed, most notably in the replacement of "zip zap" imprinter machines by EFTPoS terminals, but the basic concept has remained the same. Debit cards, now well-established as the main plastic alternative, had a shaky start, with some ill-advised propositions early on before satisfactory ground rules between banks, retailers and customers were established. |
