| Tiivistelmä: | This paper focuses on network effects and two-sided markets using data on the payment card industry. The results of the analysis indicate that consumers tend to centre their spending on a single payment network while having other unused cards at the same time. In addition, a regional correlation between consumer usage and merchant acceptance within the four major networks is found, which supports the existence of a feedback loop between usage and merchant acceptance. |
