For the purposes of the study, the market has been divided into three sectors: 1) Coffee 2) Tea 3) Other hot drinks (including malt- and chocolate-based drinks. Figures in tables are calculated from unrounded data and may not sum. The author states that the Eastern European hot drinks market is relatively fragmented, with a large number of domestic and multinational companies competing for market share in most sectors. Initially, multinationals such as Nestle and Unilever tended to focus on the premium end of the market, leaving local companies to cater for those with a lower budget.
