Tiivistelmä: | Arguments are presented that only big corporations are able to compete globally. The term managerial enterprise refers to large industrial concerns. The logic of managerial enterprise is highlighted. The costs of disregarding this logic are evident in the history of British industry in the years before the second world war. It is shown why German companies took the lead in some industries. The logic of managerial enterprise remained valid after World War II. A number of USA companies are mentioned for illustration. Some cases show that large is not always logical. The logic of mergers, acquisitions, diversification, and divestitures is explored. |
