| Tiivistelmä: | The characteristics and situation of financial operation in 1996 were as follows: broad money (M2) witnessed a fall while narrow money (M1) saw a rise. The growth of residents' saving deposits fell to some extent. Foreign exchange reserve continued to increase. The basic money of the central bank kept a moderate growth. The transactions on capital market were brisk. The problems were the low quality of credit assets as a result of which it was difficult to recall principal and interest; losses in credit put on capital market, which had restricted the operation of monetary policy on foreign exchange market; the undesirable effect of financial indirect regulation and control due to the fact that the marketing of money price had not been realised fully. |
