| Tiivistelmä: | As corporations downsize and restructure, more and more clerical and management employees are finding themselves among the jobless. Fortunately, a growing number of corporations are providing outplacement services to help former employees adjust to the change and find new positions. Survey results show that larger companies are more likely to provide such services than smaller firms. Two major components of a model outplacement program are described: counselling and job search support services. An evaluation of the outplacement operations in the USA oil industry in the mid 1980s is presented. Some outplacement options are suggested for smaller firms which are unable to afford extensive assistance. |
