| Tiivistelmä: | In this paper, the current state of leasing (hereafter as: l-g.) in Russia is examined by concentrating on the experiences of one l-g. company: Volgopromleasing. Some challenges faced by the firm are fluctuating and sometimes extremely high interest and inflation rates, as well as a legislative environment which may be expected to change. However, compensating opportunities exist: many Russian firms need to update their equipment, the government is strongly interested in promoting rapid economic growth, and the legislation currently favours l-g. over other methods. Although l-g. has the potential to assist Russian firms in modernizing and growing, this can only occur in conjunction with other economic initiatives also providing for growth and stabilization. |
