| Tiivistelmä: | Germany is in a very deep economic crisis: with the more than four millions unemployed the situation in the labour market has never been so bad after the world war two than today. In addition to this, there is a further 2.3 millions people who retired prematurely or are employed in reduced working hours. The reasons and the characteristics of this high rate of unemployment are examined and reduction of working hours as a solution to the problem is analyzed. It is argued that this measure cannot contribute to the solution of the problem, since it cannot reduce the mismatch in the labour market, which is the most important reason of unemployment. |
