| Tiivistelmä: | Eight responsibilities of maintenance management are specified. The role of maintenance in making the production process safe is considered. A cost-benefit analysis of the maintenance function is provided. Some figures on the development of the production as well as the maintenance costs in the USA during the 1970s are presented. The application of electronic data processing as an aid to the maintenance management is described. It is shown that expert systems can be profitably used to solve some simple, well-structured problems of maintenance. |
