Tiivistelmä:Recycling of technical goods helps to reduce environmental damage caused by the production, distribution and disposal of such goods. Recycling usually starts with disassembling the products manually. This causes the major part of the costs and predetermines to which extent parts or materials can be reused. The paper discusses economic aspects of dismantling processes performed by independent recycling companies. They are exposed to heavy competition. They typically accept a wide range of scrap products. Problems on the input side of dismantling are examined. On the output side, the prices of scrap material or secondary raw material play an important role. Considering the small amount of added value, dismantling has to be as fast as possible. Operative decision problems can be facilitated by specific decision support systems. The authors outline their approach
